Computer Building

For those of you who don't know I started to build a computer over the summer but because of a lack of funds I put the project aside. Now it is nearing my birthday and of coarse a good birthday would not be complete without birthday presents, in this case birthday money. Now with my currency problem solved I can resume construction on my computer. I currently have an ok case, an ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard, and a 550Watt power supply. I have the processor picked out however I would like some feedback on what to get for Ram and Video cards (I want to run dual cards).

GeForce video cards (although i know they're the only ones that'll allow dual video) and any ram that'll fit your motherboard. It makes no real difference, just get the faster brand, but nothing not recommended for the motherboard.

Oh, and it's coUrse.

dam... stfan is dumb once again.
Let the pros (geeks) answer hte though questions.

As little stefan doesnt know, both Nvidia, and ATI offer dual video card solutions, however since you have an SLI mobo (Nvidia's method) you are limited in your choice.

Morever, i encourage you to drop down 500$ on one card, and not 500$ on 2x250$ cards. Dont be stupid. its like buying 2 15in monitors instead of one 30in monitor. the 30in monitor has a greater area, and yea, i lost my train of thought when an AIM window popped up.

Point is, dual video cards are meant for people who have 1000$ to spend on 2 TOP of the line cards, not 2 Mediocre cards.

As far as Ram, i hate to admit it, but stefan is partially right. newegg your type of ram, and look for the higest numbers vs. the lowest prices. Obviously brands like corsair, patriot, and ballistix are going to be better than value brand #1...

so, to sum it up, stefan smells like a sock... a gym sock... thats been well used.
PeAcEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
